Biography of AIP Managing Partner & Founder

Thomas H. Kieren is the lead photographer and founder of the Firm. He practices architectural and interiors photography and therefore photographs the exterior and interiors of new and renovated privately and publicly owned residences, office buildings and factories, hotels, restaurants, banks, laboratories and clean rooms, educational and cultural institutions, religious structures, landscapes, skyscapes and cityscapes. He and his associates do this for still photography, video, and aerial photography. He performs assignment photography while he is also involved in the sale of his Firm’s inventory of stock photography.

He has functioned as the regional architectural photographer for the Wall Street Journal and has contributed his photographic images to leading local, regional, national and international publications such as the Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, Bone Petit, the New York Times, Design, NJ, New Jersey Monthly, the DuPont Registry, College Planning, Architectural Record, Leading Estates of the World, and Women’s Wear Daily, to name only a few. This is in addition to his contributions to numerous corporate Annual Reports, websites, and trade publications. His clients include architects, designers, real estate developers, construction companies, chambers of commerce, private clubs, PR firms and advertising agencies and corporations both here in the United States and abroad.

Mr. Kieren is a designer of seminars for various chapters of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), with the titles of “Getting Your Architectural Work Published” and “Architectural Interiors Photography”. He is an associate member of the New York chapter of the AIA and is a contributing author of their co-sponsored national AIA publication entitled “Commissioning Architectural Photography: Best Practices in Working with a Professional Photographer” sponsored jointly with the American Society of Media Photographers in 2006. For two years he has been an active member of the AIA’s New York Chapter’s Design Awards Committee and currently is an active member of the NY AIA’s Marketing and Public Relations Committee at the Center for Architecture in Manhattan.

Prior to his entry into architectural photography, Tom has photographed scores of Wall Street CEOs as well as corporate, media and sports personalities throughout the United States.

Mr. Kieren was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, attended Marquette University School, Holy Cross College, Harvard University, and the University of Chicago. He has attended the International Center of Photography in NYC and the Woodstock (NY) School of Photography. He has worked for three photographic related corporations in Chicago, New York City, and Pewaukee, before starting his own photography firm. Tom performs public speaking at seminars, authors articles, teaches as an adjunct professor, and is a consultant to selected photographic corporations including private equity firms. He has worked for clients in the United States, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America and Canada. He is represented by Getty Images for selected clients.
